Storyline
The story revolves around a 17-year-old girl Suzume who lives in a quiet town in Kyushu, who gets a weird dream where she sees a scene from her childhood, she’s in a snow-filled area with no one else around. She sees herself as a small child and she is hugging a chair and is all alone. When she wakes up and bikes to school Suzume passes a young man in his early twenties where he asked her I’m looking for a door or is there an abandoned building or area nearby?” and she answers it.
She follows after him and discovers a door standing alone on its frame, which shows a starlit field through the doorway, but she is unable to enter it. After some time different doors begin to open one after another in various parts of Japan. As disasters come from the far side of the doors, the open doors must be closed and Suzume is dedicated to doing so.
